The last couple of years has been challenging for every citizen of Samoa. While our country is practicing social distancing, our people were also so divided due to political issues that naturally made our community lived in fear and division. From there we hoped that people were looking for ways to connect and communicate with others through our way of outreach and through digital channels. And that’s where SWA Giving Back Campaign was inspired from. Through the Authority aiming to shine some light, fun and unity within our community.
The campaign was enabled within the Samoa Water Authority staff. There are 8 divisions, 4 small divisions were put into groups of two which resulted to 6 groups. Each group was to choose a charity, get creative of how to fundraise for these charities and be ideal with their second activity. An activity could be cleaning a compound, have a story time with children. However, each group went beyond their limits and made sure to help the charities with their leaks, cleaning their facilities which are homes to them, carried rocks from rivers to the compounds to make gardens and so much more. Some groups donated monetary gifts, food and even gifted water tanks as an initiative that they are to reserve water at all time.
This campaign made us work together as a staff and bring hope to our community through helping their love ones in each of these charities and we have managed to overcome unexpected and unimaginable obstacles we have faced.
This holiday season, Samoa Water Authority initiative of ‘SWA-Giving back project’ through charity work and donations was all about seeing smiles and tears of joy from our charities of need.
Though we loved the responds from the charities, we aimed to also achieve that this project will greatly influence the Increase of Community Engagement Maintaining a Robust Organizational Capacity, Strengthens Public Image and Boost the morale of our employees
We believe that giving back is a noble and humanitarian gesture and a great way to share the spirit of hope and joy and for people to enjoy the spirit of the holidays.
